The name comes from the early days in Littlehampton near the
River Arun, when the club was also associated with Arundel Castle where
it hosted big archery tournaments in the 1950s and 60s. We
meet at the Angmering School and the majority of our members come from
nearby in a ten to fifteen mile arc including Littlehampton,
Rustington, Angmering, Worthing, with some coming from
Yapton,
Arundel, Pulborough, Horsham, Steyning, Lancing, and a few even further.
The Club is affiliated to the County, Regional and
National Archery Bodies (and through them to the International
Governing Body for the Sport). We take part in the Sussex County Albion
League in the Outdoor Season, and we enter the British Archer Postal
Leagues in the Winter. Members frequently take part in Tournaments,
either as a group or individually, and at all levels from Local to
National, and in all disciplines (including Target, Field, Clout and
Traditional Longbow events).
Members find their own level according to what
they enjoy. They can potter along at Club Level, or they can aspire to
represent Sussex County at Regional Level, or England at International
Level - being a member of the club makes them eligible.
